Historic win for BJP in Nagaland’s Koridang Assembly by-poll

In a significant political milestone, the BJP in Nagaland has scripted history by securing a victory in the 28th Koridang Assembly by-election. The success of the PDA consensus BJP candidate, Daochier I Imchen, marks a decisive shift in the State’s political landscape, breaking a long-standing “jinx” regarding the party’s inability to win by-polls in the region.
The party attributed the victory to the strategic guidance of Union Home Minister Amit Shah, National General Secretary (Organisation) BL Santosh, and Nagaland Prabhari Anil K Antony. Party officials stated that the result reflects the growing organisational strength and political maturity of the BJP in the Northeast.
The campaign was characterised by meticulous micro-management and booth-level coordination. State President Benjamin Yepthomi reportedly led from the front, stationing himself in Mokokchung for 23 consecutive days to oversee grassroots mobilisation and election management.
“This victory has decisively broken the long-standing political jinx surrounding the BJP’s inability to secure a by-election victory, creating a new chapter in the political history of Koridang Mandal,” a party spokesperson said. The win is being viewed as a testament to the increasing confidence of the electorate in the vision of the saffron party.
The BJP Nagaland expressed its gratitude to the people of Koridang for their “overwhelming support and trust.” The party reaffirmed its commitment to people-centric politics, youth empowerment, and inclusive development across Nagaland following this historic mandate.
The victory of the PDA consensus candidate is expected to further solidify the alliance’s grip on the State Assembly and strengthen the BJP’s position as a dominant force in Nagaland’s internal politics.
