Himanta distributes entrepreneurship funds to women in Karbi Anglong

Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Wednesday launched the distribution of entrepreneurship fund cheques of Rs 10,000 each to 14,884 women entrepreneurs of Amri Legislative Assembly Constituency in West Karbi Anglong district and 24,660 women entrepreneurs of Diphu Legislative Assembly Constituency in Karbi Anglong district under the Chief Minister’s Women Entrepreneurship Mission. With this, a total of 19,80,259 women across 82 Legislative Assembly Constituencies of the State have so far received entrepreneurship funds under the scheme.
On the occasion, addressing two separate public meetings held at Cherdihun Aklam Playground, Baithalangso in Amri Constituency and at Karbi People’s Hall, Taralangso in Diphu Constituency, the Chief Minister conveyed his Bhogali Bihu greetings to the people. He said that the State Government has launched the Chief Minister’s Women Entrepreneurship Mission, covering 32 lakh women associated with self-help groups across Assam.
Stating that the primary objective of the scheme is to make every woman a Lakhpati Baideo, he said that more than eight lakh women in the State have already succeeded in earning over Rs 1 lakh annually and have attained the status of Lakhpati Baideo. The Chief Minister said that in the Amri Legislative Assembly Constituency alone, 272 women have already achieved the status of Lakhpati Baideo. In the Diphu Legislative Assembly Constituency, 685 women have achieved the status of Lakhpati Baideo.
At the entrepreneurship fund cheque distribution programme held for Amri Constituency, Karbi King Longsing Ronghang, Chief Executive Member of the Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council Tuliram Ronghang, MP Amarsing Tisso, MLA Rupsing Teron, and State Mission Director of the Assam State Rural Livelihoods Mission Kuntalmani Sharma Bordoloi, among other dignitaries, were present.
At the meeting held for Diphu Constituency, Minister for Sports and Youth Welfare and other departments Nandita Gorlosa, Chief Executive Member of the Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council Tuliram Ronghang, MP Amarsing Tisso, MLAs Bidyasing Engleng and Darsing Ronghang, former MP Horen Sing Bey, several Executive Members of Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council, State Mission Director of the Assam State Rural Livelihoods Mission Kuntalmani Sharma Bordoloi, District Commissioner Aranyak Saikia, senior officials and beneficiary women of self-help groups were present.
