Hidden drug lab busted at Telangana poultry farm, Rs 20 lakh worth of alprazolam seized

A major anti-drug operation in Telangana has uncovered an illegal narcotics manufacturing unit operating from a poultry farm on the outskirts of Annasagar village. Acting on intelligence, the state's EAGLE Force raided the Lakshmi Narasimha Poultry Farm and seized more than one kilogram of Alprazolam, a sedative valued at over ₹20 lakh, along with chemicals and equipment used to manufacture the drug.

Police arrested four people in connection with the racket. The alleged mastermind, Jaya Prakash Goud, had reportedly been arrested last year for running a similar drug lab from a school. Officials said he violated his bail conditions, went into hiding, and restarted the illegal operation from the poultry farm. Investigators also alleged that the farm owner knowingly allowed the premises to be used for the clandestine lab.

According to investigators, the Alprazolam produced at the facility was supplied to local dealers who allegedly mixed it with toddy, posing serious health risks to unsuspecting consumers. Authorities have launched a wider investigation to trace the drug supply chain, identify chemical suppliers, and dismantle the network involved in the illegal trade.
