Heavy tourist rush triggers massive traffic jams in Himachal’s Kullu and Kasol

Himachal Pradesh’s Kullu district witnessed severe traffic congestion over the weekend as thousands of tourists flocked to popular destinations like Kasol, Manikaran, and nearby hill stations to escape the summer heat.
Long queues of vehicles were seen on major roads, with traffic moving slowly for several kilometres, causing inconvenience to both tourists and local residents.
Authorities reported a sharp rise in visitor numbers due to the holiday season and pleasant weather conditions.
Police personnel were deployed at key junctions to manage traffic flow and prevent bottlenecks.
Officials said congestion was particularly heavy on routes leading to Kasol and Manikaran, two of the region’s most visited tourist destinations. Local authorities have advised travellers to follow traffic guidelines, use designated parking areas, and plan their journeys in advance to avoid delays.
The tourist influx has boosted business activity for hotels, restaurants, and local vendors, but it has also raised concerns about overcrowding, traffic management, and pressure on local infrastructure.
With tourist arrivals expected to remain high in the coming weeks, district authorities are monitoring the situation closely and have urged visitors to cooperate with traffic and safety measures to ensure a smooth travel experience.
