Gujarat reports 63 suspected Chandipura cases, 12 test positive

Gujarat has recorded 63 suspected cases of Chandipura virus, of which 12 have tested positive, according to a review of the situation by the State health authorities.
A review meeting chaired by Health Minister Praful Pansheriya examined the geographical spread of reported cases, possible sources of transmission, laboratory testing and measures undertaken by the administration.
Of the 12 positive cases, nine are from Gujarat, and three are from Rajasthan. The positive cases in Gujarat have been reported from Panchmahal and Kheda, which have recorded two cases each, while Sabarkantha, Mehsana, Bharuch, Bhavnagar and the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation area have reported one case each.
The Health Minister directed officials to maintain intensive surveillance in areas reporting cases and conduct detailed investigations into patients’ travel and medical histories to identify possible sources of infection.
