Maharashtra CM Devendra Fadnavis welcomes Vietnam President To Lam in Mumbai

Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Thursday welcomed To Lam upon his arrival in Mumbai during his official visit to India.
The Vietnamese President received a ceremonial welcome in the city, where Maharashtra Governor Jishnu Dev Varma and state minister Jaykumar Rawal were also present.
Sharing a message on X, Fadnavis extended greetings to President To Lam and wished him a memorable stay in Maharashtra. “Chao mung den voi Mumbai! Warm greetings and welcome to H.E. Mr. To Lam, President of Vietnam as he arrives in Mumbai today! Maharashtra welcomes you,” the chief minister posted.
During his Mumbai visit, President To Lam is scheduled to hold discussions with Fadnavis and participate in a business forum aimed at boosting economic and commercial ties between India and Vietnam. He is also expected to meet Governor Jishnu Dev Varma.
Earlier, Droupadi Murmu hosted President To Lam at Rashtrapati Bhavan and organised a banquet in his honour.
According to officials, President Murmu said the elevation of India-Vietnam ties to an Enhanced Comprehensive Strategic Partnership would further strengthen bilateral cooperation and contribute to regional peace, stability and prosperity.
On Wednesday, Narendra Modi highlighted that President To Lam’s India visit within a month of assuming office reflects the importance Vietnam attaches to relations with India.
PM Modi also noted that President Lam began his India tour from Bodh Gaya, underscoring the shared civilisational and spiritual ties between the two nations.
The two leaders discussed cooperation in sectors including trade, technology, tourism, agriculture, fisheries, rare earths, critical minerals and energy. India and Vietnam have also set a target of increasing bilateral trade to USD 25 billion by 2030.
