Delhi unveils ‘Mayur’ mascot for 2026 Commonwealth Table Tennis Championship

Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta unveiled 'Mayur', the official mascot of the 22nd Commonwealth Table Tennis Championship 2026, ahead of the tournament scheduled to be held at Thyagraj Stadium from July 27 to August 2.
Inspired by India's national bird, the peacock, the mascot features feathers representing the flags of participating Commonwealth nations, symbolising unity, friendship, and sportsmanship.
Speaking at the launch, Rekha Gupta said the championship would provide Delhi with an opportunity to showcase its sporting infrastructure on the global stage. She reaffirmed the Delhi government's commitment to strengthening sports facilities, improving athlete support, and promoting the city as a leading destination for international sporting events.
Delhi Sports Minister Ashish Sood and Commonwealth Table Tennis Federation President Vivek Kohli were also present at the unveiling ceremony.
The championship is being jointly organised by the Delhi government and the Table Tennis Federation of India. More than 35 Commonwealth nations are expected to participate in the week-long event, with competitions across multiple categories before the finals on August 2. Organisers believe the tournament will further enhance Delhi's reputation as a host of major international sporting events.
