Delhi Police to file chargesheet next week in Malviya Nagar hotel fire case

Delhi Police is expected to file its chargesheet next week in the Malviya Nagar hotel fire case that claimed 23 lives, including several foreign nationals. Officials said the investigation has reached its final stage, with the chargesheet being prepared after examining forensic reports, CCTV footage, witness statements and other technical evidence collected during the probe.
The devastating fire broke out on June 3 at the Flourish Stay hotel in Delhi's Hauz Rani area. During the investigation, police arrested the hotel owner, manager and a cook, alleging serious violations of fire safety norms and other statutory requirements.
Investigators found that the building had sealed windows, poor ventilation, no emergency exit and a locked basement entrance, factors that allegedly trapped occupants and made rescue operations more difficult.
The forthcoming chargesheet is expected to outline the sequence of events leading to the tragedy, identify the roles of the accused and present evidence gathered during the investigation.
Once filed, the court will begin legal proceedings against those named in the case. The incident has also renewed concerns over fire safety compliance in commercial buildings across the national capital.
