Delhi-NCR Rains: waterlogging, traffic snarls as heavy monsoon showers lash national capital
Heavy monsoon showers continued to lash Delhi-NCR, leading to widespread waterlogging, traffic congestion and disruption of normal life across several parts of the national capital. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has warned that the wet spell is likely to persist, with heavy rainfall expected through the day.
Several low-lying areas reported waterlogging, slowing vehicular movement during the morning rush hour. Commuters faced long traffic jams as rainwater accumulated on major roads, while civic agencies remained on alert to clear inundated stretches and prevent further disruption.
The IMD has issued an orange alert for Delhi-NCR, forecasting heavy rain accompanied by thunderstorms and gusty winds. Residents have been advised to avoid unnecessary travel, remain cautious in waterlogged areas and follow official weather advisories.
The fresh spell of rain brought significant relief from the recent humid weather, with temperatures dropping noticeably across the city. However, the downpour also affected road traffic and transport services in several parts of Delhi and the adjoining NCR region.
Authorities are monitoring the situation closely as more showers are expected over the next 24 hours, with emergency teams deployed to respond to incidents of waterlogging, fallen trees and traffic disruptions.
