Delhi congress seeks independent audit Of EC's SIR exercise

The Delhi Congress on Wednesday demanded an independent audit of the Election Commission's Special Intensive Revision (SIR) exercise in the national capital, alleging that it disproportionately affected people living in JJ clusters and unauthorised colonies.

Delhi Congress president Devender Yadav, in a press conference, said the party had raised concerns over the deletion of names and notices issued to voters over discrepancies in electoral records.

Yadav claimed that out of around 1.45 crore voters in Delhi, names of 47.6 lakh people had been deleted and notices issued to 31.6 lakh voters to address discrepancies. He demanded that the deadline for completing the process be extended from September 30 to November 30. “The SIR process should be audited by an impartial agency,” Yadav said.
