CPI attacks Union Govt over fuel price hike

The Communist Party of India (CPI) on Tuesday launched a scathing attack on the Narendra Modi-led Central Government over the recent spike in fuel prices, describing the move as “anti-people” and “corporate-driven.” Condemning the relentless inflation, the party’s National Secretariat called for nationwide protests and democratic resistance against the Government’s economic policies. In a press statement issued by CPI Office Secretary Roykutty, the party highlighted that petrol and diesel prices have been hiked four times in just ten days, translating to an increase of nearly Rs 8 per litre. With petrol prices crossing Rs 102 per litre in Delhi and Rs 111 in Mumbai, the CPI warned that these hikes would trigger a catastrophic cascading effect across the economy, driving up transportation costs, food prices, agricultural expenses, and public transport fares.
