Commercial LPG gets costlier

Commercial LPG prices across India have been increased to Rs 53.50 per from Rs 42 cylinder, beginning Monday, while the price of 5-kg LPG cylinder has been increased by Rs 11 and will now cost Rs 821.50 in Delhi. Commercial LPG cylinder in Delhi will now retail at Rs 3,113.50. The increase will burden migrant workers, small businesses and consumers who rely on cheap eateries and 5-kg LPG cylinder.
In Kolkata, the increase is steeper at `53.50, pushing the price of a commercial cylinder to Rs 3,255.50. The price revision comes into effect from June 1 and applies only to commercial LPG cylinders used by hotels, restaurants and businesses. There has been no change in the price of domestic cooking gas cylinders.
Meanwhile, the oil marketing companies (OMCs) have kept the price of aviation turbine fuel (ATF), or jet fuel, unchanged for scheduled domestic flights for the second month in a row. Additionally, relief also came for Indian carriers in the form of a 27 per cent cut in jet fuel price for international flights. With this cut, the price of jet fuel for international flights has come down to levels similar for domestic flights. For May, ATF price for domestic flights was kept unchanged, while for international flights, it was hiked by $76.55 per kl to $1,511.86 per kl. For June, while the price of jet fuel for domestic flights continues to be the same, for international flights, it has been cut by abut $400 per kl to around $1,100 per kl, according to OMC sources. In rupee terms, it comes out to be around Rs 1,05,000 per kl.
