CM Himanta presents appointment letters to 6,347 Grade III candidates

In a step toward reaffirmation of clean governance, integrity in service, commitment to the Government and marching ahead with transparent and merit-based recruitment, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma presented appointment letters to 6,347 Grade-III candidates under Assam Direct Recruitment Examination (ADRE) at a function held at Arjun Bhogeswar Baruah Sports Complex here today.
It may be noted that with these appointments, the total number of Government appointments in Assam under the present State Government has reached 1,56,679 mark.
Speaking on the occasion, Chief Minister Sarma said that the present State Government, strengthening its commitment to provide Government jobs in a just and transparent manner based on merit, formulated a mechanism in the form of ADRE. Riding on the system, the Government’s tally of providing transparent and merit-based employment crossed the 1.56 lakh mark, as distributing the remaining recruitment of the selected candidates under ADRE will be completed before 10 February.
The Chief Minister said that the entire recruitment drive has remained transparent and litigation-free with zero High Court cases. He further said that Assam’s merit-based recruitment model is now being studied by other States across India. On the occasion, Sarma moreover said that on 10 May 2023, through ADRE, 24,787 candidates were selected, of which 11,084 appointments were given in Grade III and 13,739 are given in Grade IV posts.
In the second phase, through ADRE, more than six thousand candidates were selected for 50 Government departments and after document verifications, 6,347 Grade-III candidates were found eligible for Government appointments. Of the total candidates, 1,764 the most candidates have been given appointments in the Agriculture Department, followed by 772 in the Panchayat and Rural Development, 460 in the School Education and 433 in the General Administration. Moreover, 280 candidates have been posted at the Irrigation department, 171 in Home and Political, 261 in Revenue and Disaster Management, etc.
Congratulating the newly appointed candidates, the Chief Minister said that their appointments in Government jobs though a transparent and merit-based system has been a hallmark, which means that both the employer and employees adhered to fair and transparent for the Government jobs. He, therefore, urged upon the newly appointed candidates not to advocate any evil practices while they will be rendering their Government jobs.
Sarma asked them to take a resolve not to commit any corrupt practices on the first day in office.
He also urged them to act as anti-corruption crusader and ensure that no one else within the Government system engages in corrupt practices. He also asked them to be very humble and benign toward the needs of the poor and weaker sections. Along with performing duties at the workplace, they must ensure that the poor and vulnerable in society receive high-quality services from them.
The Chief Minister, on the occasion, also requested the newly appointed Government employees to present something to their parents with their first salary and if possible, to do something with the namghars and other institutions of faith in their locality with their subsequent salaries.
Minister of Agriculture, etc., Atul Bora, Minister of Industries, Commerce and Public Enterprises, etc. Bimal Bora, Mayor GMC, Mrigen Sarania, Chief Secretary Dr Ravi Kota, Commissioner and Secretary Agriculture Department, Aruna Rajoria, Commissioner and Secretary GAD, MS Minivannan and a host of others were present on the occasion.
