Chhattisgarh man arrested for brutal assault on wife; forced her to drink urine

A man has been arrested in Chhattisgarh’s Korea district after he allegedly assaulted his wife, shaved her head and forced her to drink urine, police said, following the circulation of disturbing videos of the incident on social media.
The incident reportedly took place on June 14 in Pandopara village, but came to light after the videos surfaced online, prompting police to register a case and intensify investigation.
According to officials, the woman initially filed a complaint on June 15, alleging that her husband, identified as Jitendra Ghasiya, assaulted her under the influence of alcohol. However, she did not initially disclose the full extent of the violence.
The FIR was first registered under provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) related to cruelty, hurt, obscene acts and criminal intimidation. After the videos emerged, additional charges were added, including provisions related to administering harmful substances with intent to cause injury.
In her statement to the media, the woman said she had been married for around 15 years and has four children who currently live with her husband. She alleged that her husband suspected her of infidelity and had been living separately for about a year.
She further alleged that on June 14, he came to her residence, tied her hands and legs, assaulted her, shaved her head, and forced her to ingest urine, while also pouring urine on her.
Police said videos appear to show the accused physically assaulting the woman and humiliating her during the attack. Officials added that further investigation is underway.
