Coimbatore student’s house targeted with petrol bombs after she ends relationship with Chennai Man

A shocking case of alleged revenge violence has emerged from Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu, where a college student’s house was attacked with petrol-filled bottles after she ended a relationship with a Chennai-based man reportedly involved in multiple criminal cases.
According to police sources, the woman, a student in Coimbatore, had been in contact with a man identified as Karthik alias Mariyappan from Chennai. Their friendship gradually developed into a relationship, but later she discovered his alleged criminal background, which includes over 31 pending cases such as robbery and murder-related offences.
After learning about his past, the woman decided to end the relationship and sever all ties. However, investigators say the accused continued to harass and pressure her to continue the relationship.
The situation escalated when the accused, along with three associates, allegedly arrived at the woman’s residence near Thondamuthur on motorcycles. At the time of the incident, her father was present outside the house.
Police said the group allegedly abused the family and issued threats before throwing petrol-filled bottles at the house. One of the bottles reportedly fell near a shoe rack outside the home, but no injuries or casualties were reported.
Following the complaint filed by the victim’s father, Thondamuthur police registered a case and launched an investigation. A special police team has been formed to trace and arrest the accused, including the alleged rowdy-sheeter from Chennai.
Officials confirmed that a manhunt is underway and efforts are being made to apprehend all those involved in the attack.
