BRO restores Kailash Mansarovar Yatra route after Uttarakhand landslide

The Border Roads Organisation (BRO) has restored road connectivity on the Kailash Mansarovar Yatra route in Uttarakhand after a landslide blocked the strategic road on July 10. BRO's Project Hirak teams worked continuously to clear debris and reopen the route, ensuring the safe movement of pilgrims and essential traffic through the high-altitude region.
According to the BRO, the landslide had temporarily disrupted the pilgrimage, but swift restoration efforts helped minimise delays. The organisation reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining critical border infrastructure and ensuring uninterrupted connectivity, especially on routes of strategic and religious importance.
The Kailash Mansarovar Yatra is one of India's most significant annual pilgrimages, attracting hundreds of devotees each year. The first batch of pilgrims for the 2026 yatra was flagged off earlier this month by Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami.
Authorities continue to monitor weather conditions and have advised pilgrims to follow official travel advisories while undertaking the journey.
