‘Boat flipped in three minutes’: Vietnam crash survivor recounts horror after returning to Chennai

A survivor of the tragic Vietnam speedboat accident has shared a chilling account of the incident after returning to Chennai, saying the tourist boat overturned within just three minutes of setting off.
The accident near Phu Quoc Island claimed the lives of 15 Indian tourists and left several others injured. The survivor described how a sudden strong wave struck the vessel, causing it to capsize before passengers had time to react.
According to the survivor, many passengers were trapped inside the overturned boat while others struggled to stay afloat in rough waters. Rescue teams and nearby boats rushed to the scene, but several lives could not be saved.
The traumatic experience has raised concerns about safety standards, emergency preparedness, and possible overcrowding on the tourist vessel. Vietnamese authorities have launched an investigation into the cause of the accident, including whether safety protocols were followed.
The bodies of the deceased have been repatriated to India, where grieving families have begun their final rites. Survivors continue to recover from both physical injuries and emotional trauma, while Indian authorities remain in touch with their Vietnamese counterparts to ensure a thorough investigation into the tragedy.
