BJP accuses Karnataka Govt of minority appeasement

The Opposition BJP on Friday accused the Congress Government in Karnataka of “indulging in minority appeasement” and “insulting Hindus” following its `600 crore plan for minority colonies.
State BJP President BY Vijayendra questioned whether Hindus did not vote for Congress and bring it to power.
The Cabinet, headed by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, on Thursday approved the formulation of a two-year action plan of `600 crores for the development of minority colonies during 2026-27 and 2027-28 in the State’s Assembly Constituencies.
“In yesterday’s Cabinet meeting, it was decided to give `600 crore for minorities. BJP is not anti-minorities, but I want to ask the Chief Minister of the State: when your Congress Government came to power in the State, didn’t Hindus vote for you? Did no Hindu vote for the Congress party?” Vijayendra asked in response to a query.
Speaking to reporters, he sought to know why the Congress Government is repeatedly “indulging in minority appeasement”.
“The Congress Government and the Chief Minister are behaving in a way which is insulting to Hindus; this is an unpardonable offence. The pot of the Congress Government’s sins has filled. Each decision that CM Siddaramaiah is taking is a minority appeasement and insulting us (Hindus). People of the State will not pardon them,” he said, adding that repeated such decisions insults other communities as well.
Leader of Opposition R Ashoka said there is no development across the State, the roads are filled with potholes, but the Congress Government is strengthening its “vote bank.”
“As the Muslim community has turned against the Congress, Muslim clerics have protested against the Government openly, and several Muslim leaders in the Congress have been suspended.
To patch up for all these and to send a message that Congress is with Muslims, they have decided to release the amount.
