Bihar Cabinet approves Vishnupad complex, river link

The Bihar Government on Tuesday approved Rs 3,516.05 crore for the Son-Falgu River Linking Project and to develop the Vishnupad Temple complex in Gayaji on the lines of the Kashi Vishwanath Corridor in Varanasi.

It also accorded approval to a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to be signed between the Civil Aviation Ministry, the Airports Authority of India (AAI), and the state Government to expand air connectivity in the state under the Centre's Modified UDAN Scheme.

According to the state tourism department's proposal that has been approved at the Cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary, the estimated cost of the Vishnupad Temple complex development is Rs 2,520 crore, while the Son-Falgu River Linking Project is likely to cost Rs 996.05 crore.

Under the Rs 2,520-crore Vishnupad Temple Complex development plan, the proposed works include development of the temple premises, construction and development of multilevel car parking, an elevated pathway, Manasarovar-Manpur Bridge, ramps, ghats, dormitory and canteen, pedestrian bridge, among others.

The project will be implemented by Bihar Rajya Path Vikas Nigam Ltd (BRPNNL), said the tourism department's proposal.

Every year, a large number of Hindus visit the Vishnupad temple during the Pitri Paksha period to perform Pind Daan rituals.
