AYUSH, Delhi Govt trains doctors in paediatric care

The Directorate of AYUSH, Government of NCT of Delhi, has launched one-day hands-on practical training workshops titled “Saving Babies & Infants” for AYUSH medical officers and students.
The workshops, being held at Ayurvedic & Unani Tibbia College & Hospital, aim to equip participants with critical skills in identifying life-threatening conditions in children, initiating basic stabilisation measures, and making timely referral decisions. India accounts for over 20 per cent of global under-five deaths, with a mortality rate of 32.6 per 1,000 live births. Pneumonia, diarrhoeal diseases, and severe infections continue to be the leading causes, many of which are preventable through early recognition and prompt intervention. Speaking at the inaugural session, Dr Yogita Munjal, Director (AYUSH), highlighted the need to prepare AYUSH practitioners for all kinds of emergencies.
The training is delivered by emergency medicine doctors and paediatric advanced life support instructors through interactive demonstrations and case-based discussions.
