Assam Rifles responds swiftly to major fire incident at Nogna village in Tirap district

Assam Rifles responded swiftly to a major fire incident that broke out at Nogna village in Tirap district at midnight on 21 February 2026. The fire rapidly engulfed several houses and spread across a significant portion of the village, posing a serious threat to lives, property, and surrounding structures. The remote terrain and the intensity of the blaze further complicated the situation, necessitating immediate intervention.
On receiving information about the incident, troops of Assam Rifles mobilised without delay and moved to the affected site. Upon arrival, the troops initiated prompt fire containment measures and assisted villagers in evacuating vulnerable areas.
Working in close coordination with the local administration and emergency response agencies, the team undertook systematic efforts to control the blaze and prevent it from spreading further to nearby houses and essential infrastructure.
The troops also extended assistance in safeguarding belongings, guiding residents to safer locations, and supporting the local authorities in managing the situation effectively.
