Assam NCC programme promotes national security

A two-day programme aimed at promoting national security awareness, responsible citizenship, youth leadership and nation-building was organised on 18 and 19 August under the Rashtriya Suraksha Protsahan Yojana of the Governor of Assam by 1 Assam Battalion NCC, Guwahati Group.
The inaugural programme at Gauhati Commerce College (Autonomous) featured opening addresses by the Principal and the Commanding Officer, 1 Assam Battalion NCC. A debate competition on “Whether India Should Prioritise Economic Growth Over Environmental Protection” and an essay competition on “From Citizens to Nation Builders: The NCC Spirit” provided cadets a platform to deliberate on contemporary issues and articulate their ideas.
An Upskilling Awareness Session on “Hospitality and Tourism Entrepreneurship: Innovate, Create and Grow” was conducted by Rimli Das, Director, ARJB Hospitality Pvt. Ltd. The session highlighted entrepreneurship and emerging opportunities in the hospitality and tourism sector. Cultural activities and a yoga programme by NCC cadets added further dimensions to the event.
The programme concluded with an inspirational talk by Brigadier Ranjit Borthakur, SM (Retd.), followed by prize distribution and felicitation of achievers of 1 Assam Battalion NCC. Around 100 cadets from five institutions participated in the inaugural programme.
