Four arrested, 55 cattle rescued in Assam's Kamrup

Four people were arrested after they were allegedly caught smuggling cattle in Assam's Kamrup district, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said.
In a social media post on Thursday night, Sarma said Assam Police intercepted three trucks at Changsari and rescued 55 cattle that were allegedly being transported in a cruel manner.
"Action against cattle smuggling continues unabated in Assam. In Changsari, @assampolice safely rescued 55 cattle being transported cruelly. 3 vehicles and 3 mobile phones were seized, and 4 accused were arrested," he said in the post.
Sarma added that strict action against cattle smuggling would continue until the practice is eradicated from its roots. (with inputs from PTI)
