Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma meets team Europe Delegation to strengthen trade and investment ties

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma met a high-level “Team Europe” delegation in Guwahati to explore new avenues for trade, investment, innovation, and economic cooperation between Assam and European nations.
The meeting was held as part of a two-day visit by the European Union delegation to Assam aimed at deepening engagement with the Northeast region and identifying opportunities for collaboration in key sectors. Discussions focused on strengthening trade and investment linkages, promoting sustainable development, and expanding partnerships in emerging industries.
According to officials, the delegation included European ambassadors and representatives from member countries, along with a business delegation led by the Federation of European Business in India (FEBI). The visit is intended to enhance economic cooperation between Europe and India's Northeast in line with the India-European Union Comprehensive Strategic Agenda.
A key highlight of the visit was the launch of India’s first Blue Valley Cluster in Assam, an initiative designed to foster innovation, sustainable industrial growth, investment, and value-chain partnerships across the region.
Chief Minister Sarma highlighted Assam’s growing economic potential, strategic location, and improving infrastructure, positioning the state as a gateway to Southeast Asia under India’s Act East Policy. He emphasized the government's commitment to attracting global investments and creating a conducive business environment.
The Team Europe visit is expected to open new opportunities in sectors such as green energy, healthcare, semiconductors, sustainable industries, research, and innovation. Both sides expressed optimism about expanding long-term partnerships that can contribute to economic growth and regional connectivity.
The engagement underscores the growing importance of Assam and the Northeast in India's international economic outreach and efforts to integrate the region into global value chains.
