ACA unveils trophy for Corporate Cricket Tournament

The Assam Cricket Association (ACA) on Monday hosted the curtain-raiser ceremony for the ACA Corporate Cricket Tournament 2026 at the 91 Yards Club Auditorium, situated within the ACA Stadium Complex in Barsapara. The event featured the official unveiling of the tournament trophy and the team jerseys for the upcoming competition.
The ceremony was attended by the Honorary Secretary of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), Devajit Saikia, who served as the Chief Guest. Other prominent dignitaries included ACA Vice President Romen Dutta, Joint Secretary Rajendra Singh, Apex Council Member Mukutananda Bhattacharjya, and former ACA Secretary Tridib Konwar.
Delivering the welcome address, Romen Dutta highlighted the tournament's objective of promoting cricket beyond the professional sphere. He noted that the initiative is designed to foster sporting spirit, teamwork, and healthy competition among various corporate and institutional bodies.
Commending the ACA’s efforts, BCCI Secretary Devajit Saikia emphasised the importance of providing a platform for professionals who remain passionate about the sport. “We are thinking about budding cricketers working in different organisations who still have the passion to play and compete.
This tournament will create a competitive environment and provide a good platform for players to showcase their talent,” Saikia remarked.
The T20 format tournament is scheduled to commence on 10 March, with the grand finale set for 22 March at the historic Judges’ Field in Guwahati. Matches will be spread across three primary venues: the ACA Stadium Annexe Ground, the ACA Cricket Academy Ground in Fulung, and Judges’ Field.
A total of 36 teams representing a diverse range of sectors — including Government departments, PSUs, and private establishments — are set to participate. Notable contenders include the NF Railway Cricket Team, Reliance Industries Limited (RIL), the Gauhati High Court, Infosys Guwahati, and the Reserve Bank Staff Recreation Club.
Other participating institutions range from the Indian Institute of Architects and the Income Tax Department to the Assam Secretariat Cricket Club and various educational bodies like Tezpur University and Assam Agricultural University.
The organisers expressed confidence that the event would strengthen the bond between the professional community and the sporting world, further popularising cricket across the State of Assam.
