9-Year-Old Shot Dead in UP After Refusing to Bring Water for Liquor

A nine-year-old boy was allegedly shot dead during a family function in Kasganj district after he refused to bring water for mixing alcohol, police said.
The shocking incident took place in Yakutganj village under Sahawar police station limits during a naming ceremony at the child’s house. According to officials, family members, relatives, and villagers had gathered for the event when the accused, identified as Dhanesh Yadav, allegedly asked the boy to fetch water while he was consuming liquor.
When the child refused, the accused reportedly lost his temper and fired at him. The bullet struck the boy in the stomach, creating panic at the ceremony.
The injured child was immediately rushed to the district hospital in Kasganj and later referred to Aligarh for advanced treatment. However, he succumbed to his injuries during treatment, police said.
SHO Govind Ballabh Sharma said a case has been registered on the complaint of the victim’s family. ASP Rajesh Kumar Bharti said the accused fled after the incident but was later arrested near Khitauli canal bridge.
Police also recovered the firearm allegedly used in the crime. Authorities said the accused is being sent to jail and further investigation is underway.
