A 68-year-old man died after he was accidentally knocked down by a car during a vehicle puja at Sri Peddamma Thalli Temple in Jubilee Hills, police said.
The incident occurred on Thursday, August 27, afternoon when Tummalapalli Ramachandra Rao, a resident of Cherukuwada in West Godavari district, had accompanied his family to the temple.

His grandson Lakshmishetty Ramadugu Sai Kumar, who had recently purchased a new car, had gone to the temple with family members to perform a vehicle puja.
During the ritual, the priest reportedly asked Sai Kumar to move the car slightly forward. As he attempted to do so, the vehicle suddenly moved ahead and hit Ramachandra Rao, who was standing in front of it.
The elderly man sustained serious injuries and was rushed to a hospital by his family members.
He died while undergoing treatment on Friday, police said.
