40 killed after passenger bus plunges into ravine in Pakistan

At least 40 people were killed and eight others injured after an overcrowded passenger bus lost control and plunged into a deep ravine in Pakistan's southwestern Balochistan province on Friday. The bus was travelling from Quetta to Islamabad when the accident occurred near Dana Sar, a remote area close to the border of Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
According to officials, the bus veered off the highway before falling into the rocky gorge. Rescue teams rushed to the scene and shifted the injured to nearby hospitals, while efforts continued to recover victims from the wreckage. Authorities have launched an investigation to determine the exact cause of the crash, although reports suggest overcrowding and possible speeding may have contributed to the tragedy.
Pakistan has witnessed several deadly road accidents in recent years due to poor road conditions, weak enforcement of traffic rules, and overloaded vehicles.

President Asif Ali Zardari and other government leaders expressed condolences to the victims' families and directed officials to ensure the injured receive proper medical treatment. The latest accident has once again highlighted the urgent need for improved road safety measures across the country.
