23 Rescued after massive fire breaks out in Rohini residential building

At least 23 people were rescued after a fire broke out in a four-storey residential building in Delhi’s Rohini area on Tuesday morning, officials said.
According to the Delhi Fire Services (DFS), a call regarding the blaze was received at 7.06 am from a building located on Shamshan Ghat Road in Vijay Vihar Phase-2.
Officials said the fire started on the ground floor of the building, where 18 electricity meters and six vehicles — including three scooties, two motorcycles and one bicycle — were engulfed in flames.
The blaze quickly spread thick smoke throughout the building, trapping several residents inside their homes and balconies and triggering panic among occupants.
Dramatic visuals from the scene showed residents stranded on balconies while firefighters carried out rescue operations using ladders. In one video, a man standing on a second-floor balcony was seen attempting to climb down using a rope before fire personnel stopped him and assured him of a safer rescue.
Firefighters later used ladders to safely evacuate people trapped on upper floors.
Videos from the site also showed sparks erupting continuously from the electricity meter area, while dense smoke and flames billowed from the ground floor.
The Delhi Fire Services said 22 people were rescued by firefighters, while one person was rescued by local residents before emergency teams arrived at the spot.
Two people sustained injuries in the incident and were shifted to Jaipur Golden Hospital for treatment. Officials said their condition is stable.
The fire was brought under control by around 8 am. Authorities said the exact cause of the blaze is yet to be determined, though preliminary findings indicate that it may have originated from the electricity meter section on the ground floor.
