15-foot crater on road as Gurugram's Sohna Expressway collapses again
A major section of the Sohna Road Expressway near Subhash Chowk in Gurugram collapsed once again on Wednesday, leaving behind a massive crater estimated to be 10 to 15 feet deep and raising fresh concerns over the road’s structural safety.
Visuals from the site showed sewage water flowing beneath the damaged stretch, indicating possible failures in underground drainage infrastructure and construction planning. Repair teams rushed to the spot soon after the incident was reported, but commuters and local residents expressed frustration over repeated cave-ins on the same stretch.
Residents claimed the expressway has witnessed similar collapses several times in recent years, with authorities carrying out temporary repairs that failed to provide a long-term solution.
The repeated incidents have intensified scrutiny of the civic agencies responsible for maintaining the road infrastructure. Questions are now being raised over the quality of construction work and whether the sewage system beneath the expressway was properly integrated into the project design.
