1 Dead, 58 Hospitalised After Suspected Food Poisoning in Odisha’s Jajpur

One elderly woman died and 58 people, including children, were taken ill after a suspected food poisoning incident in Jajpur district on Sunday. The incident was reported from Patapur village, where residents had allegedly consumed contaminated Dahi Bara sold by a local vendor.
According to officials, soon after eating the popular snack, several villagers complained of vomiting, diarrhoea, mild fever, and dizziness. As the number of patients increased, local authorities rushed them to nearby government hospitals for immediate treatment.
Reports said 52 affected persons were later shifted by ambulance to the District Headquarters Hospital in Jajpur for advanced medical care. Some others are being treated within the village under medical supervision.
Among those affected are a large number of children, raising concern among health authorities. Officials are monitoring the condition of all patients, while emergency medical teams have been deployed in the area.
Authorities have launched an investigation to determine the exact cause of the suspected contamination. Food samples are expected to be examined, and action may be taken against those found responsible.
