The Cyber Crime Cell has arrested a 19-year-old youth, Shivam Yadav, from Bhind for attempting to cheat students by falsely promising to leak the MP Board Exam 2025 question papers on the Telegram app.
According to Additional DCP Shailendra Singh Chauhan, Yadav, who had failed his Class 12 exams and discontinued his studies, created three Telegram groups to lure students. He claimed he could provide the exam papers 10 hours before the test in exchange for payments ranging from ?1,000 to ?2,000. However, before he could circulate a fabricated "guess paper" disguised as a leaked question paper, police apprehended him.
Fearing arrest, Yadav had recently deleted all three Telegram groups in an attempt to erase evidence. During interrogation, he admitted that his plan was to share a fake guessing paper to mislead students while charging them for access. The cyber crime team had already identified the groups before he deleted them, leading to his swift arrest.
Authorities are now investigating whether Yadav was involved in similar fraudulent schemes in the past. His arrest prevented the potential spread of misleading content, which could have deceived numerous students ahead of their exams.
The police have urged students and parents to remain vigilant against such scams and report any suspicious activities related to exam leaks or fraud. This case underscores the growing misuse of social media platforms for cheating, prompting law enforcement agencies to intensify efforts to curb such illegal activities.
