Indore was left shocked by the brutal murder of Bhavna Singh, who was shot dead over an argument about loud music. The accused, Mukul Yadav, allegedly killed her with a country-made pistol after she repeatedly asked him to lower the volume of a Punjabi song. Both were heavily intoxicated at the time, having consumed alcohol at a late-night party with friends.
The incident occurred on March 20 at a flat in Mahalaxmi Nagar, where Bhavna, a native of Gwalior, was staying with her friend Swastika. A liquor party was organized to celebrate her visit, attended by Swastika, Mukul, his brother Ashu Yadav, and two others. As the night progressed, Mukul began playing loud music. Bhavna objected, leading to a heated argument. In a fit of rage, Mukul pulled out a pistol and shot her.
Following the shooting, three friends rushed Bhavna to Bombay Hospital but abandoned her there before fleeing. She later succumbed to her injuries. The accused fled Indore in a Thar jeep, attempting to evade capture by avoiding ATMs and mobile phones. However, police tracked them down after a 1,000-km chase and arrested them.
During the arrest, police recovered 34 mobile phones, 24 ATM cards, betting accounts, and Rs 20,000 in cash. Investigations revealed that Mukul and Ashu Yadav were involved in an online betting scam, luring victims with fake promises of high returns using fraudulent bank accounts and SIM cards.
Mukul and Ashu, real brothers, had moved to Indore after their father was murdered in a family dispute. They posed as property dealers while secretly running an illegal betting network. Bhavna, who had separated from her husband after her parents’ death, was in a live-in relationship with a sand trader.
