Will work to implement Budget announcements at thrice the speed: CM Saini

Saturday, 29 March 2025 | MANOJ KUMAR | Chandigarh

Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini, on the last day of the Budget Session of Haryana's Vidhan Sabha on Friday, said that the budget is not an account of the government's expenses but a document of government's policies, intention and vision. He assured the people of the State that the announcements made in the budget will be implemented at three times the speed.

Speaking during the Budget session, Saini said that just as all the members have made this budget session successful with their views, assessments and positive suggestions, in the same way, they should also cooperate in taking the announcements made in the budget to 2.80 crore people of Haryana. All of us should not become ruling party or opposition, but together become partners in the development of Haryana, he said.
He said this time the budget session has been the longest in the history of Haryana, in which all the members have discussed the budget positively. Saini said earlier, during the budget session, there was only debate on the budget, but for the last few years, the tradition of meaningful discussion and giving suggestions on the budget has been started in Haryana. He said this budget session will be known for ensuring respect to women and fulfilling their dreams.

Responding to a concern raised by Congress MLA Raghubir Kadian regarding MNREGA, Saini said that the state government has been consistently working for the past 11 years with a zero-tolerance policy against corruption, ensuring that officers, employees, or any individuals found guilty are not spared under any circumstances. He said that the current state government has taken serious note of the MNREGA scam and has taken strict action against the officers and others involved in the case. He further assured that the government will continue to adhere to its zero-tolerance policy and corruption will not be tolerated under any circumstances.

Haryana adopts its state song

Haryana adopted its state song on Friday, with the proposal being unanimously passed through a voice vote on the concluding day of the budget session of the State Assembly. Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini expressed gratitude to all those involved in the creation of the song, calling it an inspiration for the state's 2.80 crore people.

He said the song reflects Haryana’s progress, development, and values while instilling sensitivity, hard work, and loyalty to the land and suggested that guidelines be established for the state song, similar to those for the national anthem.

The proposal was first introduced by former Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar in the Assembly last year. The song was played in the House, and members’ suggestions were incorporated into the final version, which has now been officially adopted, Saini said.

He noted that while Haryana became a separate state in 1966, it had no official state song until now. He said the song symbolizes Haryana’s rich history, culture, and contributions, and extended special thanks to its composers, singers, and other contributors. Haryana, he said, has been central to India's history since the pre-Vedic era and remains a leading state, with its farmers feeding the nation and its soldiers protecting the borders.

Participating in the debate, the Haryana State Energy, Transport and Labour Minister Anil Vij said the song showcases the language, culture and brotherhood of Haryana. “I proposed that a copy of this state song be provided to every Assembly member so they can memorise it, learn it thoroughly and understand it. Just like the national anthem ‘Jana Gana Mana’ is sung and remembered by heart, this song should also be sung with the same spirit,” he added.
