Bokaro, January 10, 2025: Vedanta ESL’s Excel-30 Centre, an education initiative under its CSR project Prerna, has achieved another significant milestone in empowering underprivileged youth in rural Jharkhand. Established in 2021 at Bijulia (Chas), the center provides focused mentorship and structured learning support to help students excel in competitive government examinations.
In 2024, three students from the center successfully cleared the SSC GD (Staff Selection Commission General Duty) exam and will begin their government service on January 20, 2025. Somanath Mahata, from Chas Block, has secured a position in the Border Security Force (BSF). Shubham Tiwari, from Usardih Village, and Punam Kumari, from Dumardah Village, have both been selected for the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF). These achievers come from humble backgrounds, with parents working as welders, daily wage laborers, and homemakers, reflecting their perseverance and determination to succeed.
Since its inception, the Excel-30 Centre has benefited 70 students, with 65 appearing for government exams.
Kunal Daripa, Head CSR at ESL Steel Limited, expressed his pride in the students’ achievements, stating, “These accomplishments are a testament to the hard work of the students, the support of their families, and the commitment of Vedanta ESL. We are dedicated to empowering rural communities by creating opportunities that transform lives and uplift society as a whole.”
The remarkable success of the Excel-30 Centre is largely attributed to the efforts of its teachers, including Ravi Kumar (Mathematics), Mukesh Kumar (General Knowledge and Reasoning), and Ajay Kumar Choudhary (English), whose dedicated mentorship has played a pivotal role in guiding the students to achieve their goals.
