Two-day training for progressive livestock farmers concludes

A two-day training and observation program for progressive livestock farmers was successfully organized on March 25 and 26, 2025, at the College of Veterinary Science and Animal Husbandry, Jabalpur, under Nanaji Deshmukh Veterinary Science University. The event, conducted under the directives of Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Mandeep Sharma and the guidance of Dean Dr. R.K. Sharma, was sponsored by J.K. Cement Works Panna and J.K. Trust Bombay under the Cattle Breed Improvement Project – Ksheer Vardhan.

The program aimed to educate livestock farmers on modern animal husbandry techniques through scientific methods and government policies. The initiative focused on promoting animal husbandry as a viable business and enhancing farmers' knowledge of advanced livestock management practices. The event was coordinated by Dr. Ranbir Singh Jatav, with co-coordinators Dr. Brijesh Singh and Dr. S.K. Karmore. Conducted with the support of J.K. Trust, the training emphasized modern livestock management, disease prevention, and productivity enhancement. The program was hosted by Dr. Ruchi Nirmal, while key attendees included J.K. Trust Bombay representatives Pradeep Verma, Dr. Ashish, and Gaurav.

Experts delivered lectures on major livestock diseases, vaccination importance, economic aspects of dairy farming, modern feed management, artificial insemination, reproductive disorders, parasite control, and value addition in animal products. The sessions also covered government schemes and their implementation. Practical demonstrations and farm visits provided hands-on experience in modern dairy farming techniques, advanced breeding methods, and disease control measures.

The training played a crucial role in transforming traditional livestock farming into a profitable business. Dr. Asit Jain provided insights into livestock breeds and their characteristics, while Dr. Vishnu Gupta guided farmers on scientific techniques, government schemes, and marketing strategies to improve productivity and income.
