In a sustained effort to make ‘Delhi drug free’ following the orders of the Lieutenant Governor Vinai Kumar Saxena, the Delhi Police nabbed a drug peddler and recovered 402 grams of heroin from his possession, worth approximately Rs 2.5 crore in the international market in outer North Delhi’s Narela Industrial Area.
According to the police on Thursday, the accused has been identified as 23 year old Sheikh Shahnawaz alias Sohail alias Bura, resident of C-400 Jahangirpuri. Deputy Commission of Police (Outer North) Nidhin Valsan said, “The Anti-Narcotics Cell staff is tasked with unearthing illegal drug syndicates and gathering intelligence on drug traffickers operating in the district. Secret informers were deployed to collect information. Based on secret information, a trap was laid by the Anti-Narcotics Cell staff of Outer North District on Wednesday.”
“One person, Sheikh Shahnawaz was nabbed with a bag at Sirka Chowk, J J Colony, Bawana. During the search of his bag, 402 grams of heroin (a commercial quantity) was recovered,” the officer added.
A case under Section 21 of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act on Wednesday was registered at Narela Industrial Area police station.
