Uttar Pradesh’s Jal Shakti Minister Swatantra Dev Singh on Friday described the Maha Kumbh 2025 in Prayagraj as a global success and a testament to Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s leadership over the past eight years. He emphasised that the seamless management of the world’s largest religious gathering reflected the efficiency of governance under Adityanath.

“The Maha Kumbh was a resounding success on the global stage. In fact, the achievements of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s eight-year tenure can be measured by how well this massive congregation was managed,” Singh said.

He highlighted that approximately 66 crore people attended the event and praised the law and order situation, noting that no major crimes were reported.

The minister was speaking at an event organised by the Namami Gange and Rural Water Supply Department, where 112 employees were felicitated for their exemplary contributions during the Maha Kumbh, held from January 13 to February 26. Singh, along with Additional Chief Secretary Anurag Srivastava, honored employees from various departments and agencies for their efforts in organising the ‘Swachh Sujal Gaon’ exhibition, which showcased the transformation of rural Uttar Pradesh under the Jal Jeevan Mission.

Singh commended the exhibition, stating that it effectively demonstrated the impact of water supply initiatives in rural areas. He noted that the Nal se Jal Yojana had significantly improved access to drinking water, particularly in arid regions like Bundelkhand and Vindhya. He added that the government’s focus on infrastructure had also resulted in better roads and housing for the poor.

Additional Chief Secretary Anurag Srivastava credited the success of the exhibition to the dedication of employees, while Information Commissioner PN Dwivedi highlighted key attractions such as the “Matke Wala Chauraha,” which became a symbol of the Maha Kumbh. Dwivedi said the exhibition reflected the broader transformation of rural Uttar Pradesh through the Jal Jeevan Mission.

Jal Samadhan portal launched

On the same occasion, Swatantra Dev Singh launched the Jal Samadhan Portal to streamline water-related services in the state. He said the portal would allow residents to apply for water connections, register complaints, and track their grievances online.

The service can be accessed through Jalsamadhan.in, a toll-free number (180012121614), and an Android app. Additionally, a coffee table book documenting the work of the Jal Jeevan Mission across Uttar Pradesh was released at the event.
