The Hyatt Centric in New Delhi saw the 26th anniversary of the International Women Polytechnic (IWP) Academy with the grand celebration of “Meraki 2024,” an annual festival dedicated to empowering women through financial independence. The event featured various cultural performances including various fashion shows, dances, and dramas, showcasing the creativity and talent of women by different branches of IWP.
The annual event was graced by Kamaljeet Sehrawat, Member of Parliament, Lok Sabha, as the chief guest. Sehrawat, in her speech, said, “If we want to take our country forward, there is only one mantra: skill development.”
The event showcased the dedication to women’s education. Students from IWP’s Delhi branches showcased an impressive array of ethnic, Indo-western, and Western attire. What made the show particularly unique was that these students not only designed the clothes but were also deeply involved in every aspect of the creation process starting from fabric selection to stitching and embroidery. This hands-on experience was a testament to the academy’s commitment to providing practical skills that empower women in real-world settings.
The festival culminated in an award ceremony, where students were recognised for their achievements in various categories, further boosting their morale. Meraki 2024 delivered a powerful message: empowering women through skill development is crucial for shaping a self-reliant and developed India, aligning with the country’s vision for a prosperous future by 2047.
