Rashtriya Lok Dal leaders paid tribute to former prime minister Dr Manmohan Singh at the state office of the party in Lucknow on Friday. Senior leaders, including Anil Dubey and national secretary Anupam Mishra, were present.
The party officials and workers paid tribute to Dr Singh by observing two minutes of silence. Mishra said that pre-scheduled programmes in all the districts of the state to celebrate the birthday of Rashtriya Lok Dal’s national president and Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) Chaudhary Jayant Singh had been cancelled.
RLD national secretary Anupam Mishra said that the country has lost not only a politician but also a great economist.
“The death of former PM Dr. Manmohan Singh is an irreparable loss to the country. The former prime minister, who gave a new direction to the Indian economy through economic reforms, will always be generously remembered for his remarkable contribution in the history of Indian politics,” he said.
Remembering the former prime minister in the condolence meeting, senior leader Anil Dubey said that Dr Manmohan Singh was a pioneer of developmental politics and governance. “He selflessly devoted his entire life to the service of the country and countrymen. Today he is no longer among us, but his ideals and thoughts will always inspire us,” Dubey said.
RLD state general secretary Rajnikanth Mishra, Manoj Singh Chauhan, Ramavati Tiwari, Preeti Srivastava, state general secretary Izhar Ahmed Shah, state president of students’ union Aman Pandey, former state spokesperson Samrat Singh, state treasurer BL Premi, Ashutosh Soti, and several others were present on the occasion.
