Tuesday, 25 June 2024 | Staff Reporter | BHOPAL

Taking membership of BJP and campaigning in favour of the party went so displeasing for a Chhindwara based Muslim woman that her husband not only assaulted her but also abandoned her by giving divorce.

The victim woman has lodged a complaint against her husband in Kotwali police station for giving triple talaq to her.

The woman alleged that she was being physically and mentally tortured for dowry by her husband and in-laws. On the complaint of the victim, the police have registered a case under section 4 of the Muslim Women Act 2019 along with sections of the IPC.

Kotwali police station in-charge Umesh Golhani said that the victim Ishrat Sheikh, a resident of Royal Chowk, has complained that she was married to Abdul Asif Mansoori.

After marriage, her husband, mother-in-law and four sisters-in-law started giving physical and mental torture by pressuring her to bring five lakh rupees in dowry from her parents' house. She was thrown out of the house.

She is living in a rented house with her son. During this time, husband Abdul Asif Mansoori beat her up and broke the relationship by saying triple talaq.

On the complaint of the victim, the police have registered a case against Abdul Asif Mansuri and other members of his family under sections 498A, 294, 34, section 3 and 4 of the Dowry Act and section 4 of the Muslim Women (Protection of Rights on Marriage) Act 2019.

The victim Ishrat Sheikh said in her complaint that she had joined the Bharatiya Janata Party after being influenced by the Prime Minister and the Chief Minister.

She had voted for the Bharatiya Janata Party candidate in the Lok Sabha elections. When my husband, mother-in-law and sister-in-law came to know about this, they came to my house and broke the relationship with me by giving me triple talaq along with beating me. Staff Reporter n BHOPAL
