Wife of former District Panchayat President of Kesla, Ganpat Uike, died on the spot while Ganpat Uike and his granddaughter were injured after their vehicle collided with a parked truck in Narmadapuram; vehicle lost control after tyre exploded.
The accident happened on Obedullaganj-Betul National Highway 46 at around 7 pm on Tuesday evening. The car was badly damaged in the accident.
On receiving the information, Kesla police station in-charge Srinath Jharbade, Dial 100 and 108 ambulances reached the spot. With the help of passersby, all three were brought to Sukhtawa Community Health Center where the doctor declared the woman dead. Ganpat Uike was referred to Itarsi after first aid.
The police said that Ganpat Uike, along with his wife Anokhi Bai (57) and granddaughter Saloni (16), were going from Dauri Jhunkar to Banabid village to celebrate Devuthani Ekadashi. Ganpat was driving.
Meanwhile, the tyre of their car exploded near Model School ahead of Sukhtawa. The car lost its balance due to the speed and collided with a truck parked near the road.
Kesla police station in-charge Srinath Jharbade said - the truck was standing on the side of the road due to a punctured tyre. After the accident, the vehicle got stuck in the truck. It could be pulled out after much effort. Saloni is slightly injured while Ganpat has injuries on his face and head.
