Will wipe them out if elections held tomorrow: Hemant tells workers

Sunday, 30 June 2024 | PNS | Ranchi

A day after being released from jail on bail granted by the Jharkhand High Court in connection to an alleged land scam, former Chief Minister Hemant Soren declared that the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) is prepared for elections and would achieve a landslide victory if polls were held immediately.

Speaking to party workers at his residence on Saturday, Soren stated, "Conduct the elections tomorrow, or the day after, and we will defeat the BJP soundly."

Soren remarked that although there may be delays, there is no injustice in the divine scheme. He emphasized that the truth cannot be suppressed and will eventually come to light. He expressed satisfaction with the results of the Lok Sabha elections, which he viewed as a mix of joy and sorrow, but ultimately empowering for the poor and tribal residents of the state.

Soren predicted that the assembly elections would occur soon, possibly ahead of schedule, and boldly challenged his opponents to hold elections promptly, asserting that the JMM would triumph.

Reflecting on his five months in jail, Soren highlighted the plight of many tribals, Dalits, and poor individuals incarcerated, stressing Jharkhand's importance due to its rich mineral resources that significantly contribute to the national economy. Despite this, he lamented that the state receives minimal returns.

The JMM leader promised significant changes, ensuring the voices of the poor and tribals would be heard. He vowed to respond decisively to any conspiracies, proving the party's strength in the upcoming assembly elections and dismissing BJP's ambitions as unrealistic.

Soren, accompanied by his wife Kalpana Soren, party's central general secretary Vinod Pandey, and Rajya Sabha MP Mahua Maji, paid homage to tribal icon Birsa Munda by garlanding his statue in the city.

Speaking to the media after the tribute, Soren affirmed, "This Jharkhand is the land of heroes. We are the descendants of heroes and have no reason to fear. Challenges may arise, but they will be temporary, and if we endure, success will surely come to the people of Jharkhand."
