STF raid exposes how tech used to solve CSIR-NET paper  in Meerut

Amidst allegations of opposition parties of paper leaks in all recruitment examinations, yet another case of cheating has come to light during the CSIR-NET examination in Meerut’s Subharti University.

A surprise raid conducted by the sleuths of the Special Task Force on Friday exposed how the students were helped in solving the question paper through use of technology.

According to reports, on the basis of confidential inputs, a search operation was conducted by STF in the CSIR-NET examination centre, Subharti University, in Meerut. During the search, an extra admin computer was found connected through the local area network from the server room of the examination lab and two laptops were found in the server room in which Any Desk remote access tool was found.

Along with this, a mobile phone was found from an employee, Arun, who was conducting the exam. The names, roll numbers of four candidates and the IP address of their system were found in the mobile. This IP was shared with a person outside the centre through whom the screen of these candidates was shared. Their question paper was being solved by a solver from outside.

The CSIR-NET (Council of Scientific and Industrial Research National Eligibility Test) started on Thursday. In this exam held on Thursday also, Arun had helped the candidates in cheating. During the investigation by the STF, details of 11 candidates were found from Arun’s phone. In the deleted history of the phone, the police found the names, data and roll numbers of the 11 candidates

Three employees of TCS, Usman, Arun Sharma and one more, have been arrested by the STF team and interrogations are on to extract details of others, including candidates, involved in the entire racket.

UP STF chief Amitabh Yash informed the media that confidential information was received about cheating in Subharti University and the raid was conducted on this basis.  He said that legal action had been initiated against all the accused involved in this case.

Meanwhile, registrar of the Subharti University, Syed Zafar Hussain, denied the university’s role in the cheating. “The university is closed due to Kanwar Yatra and the online examination centre on the campus was managed by officials of Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) so they are responsible for what happened and the university had no role in the examination,” Hussain clarified.

He further said that they had a contract with the TCS for conducting the exams so they had sought full details from it as their conduct had defamed the university.
