The SMS-II & CCS department's RERS (Replaceable Equipment Repair Shop) witnessed the inauguration of a new vertical milling machine yesterday. The event was graced by the Executive Director (Projects & Additional Charge of Materials Management) C.R. Mahapatra, and the Executive Director (HR & Additional Charge of Works) Rajan Prasad of Bokaro Steel Plant.
Present at the inauguration were Chief General Manager (SMS-II & CCS) Arvind Kumar, Chief General Manager (Projects) Rakesh Kumar Rai, along with senior executives and staff members.
The vertical milling machine is a precision tool cutting machine used for various cutting tasks, including milling copper plates used in molds for foundry work. Over time, the surface of these copper plates becomes rough and requires finishing to be usable again. The new machine will perform this task with minimal copper loss. The machine had been out of operation for a considerable time due to the unavailability of spare parts. Now, it is ready to undertake precise tool cutting operations and meet the requirements of various shops at Bokaro Steel Plant.
The maintenance and refurbishment of the vertical milling machine were carried out by M/s Balaji Autotech Private Limited.
