Sunday, 06 October 2024 | PNS | BOKARO

Vedanta ESL Steel Limited has undertaken a series of cleanliness and plantation initiatives as part of the Swachhata Hi Seva Campaign, launched by the Government of India to commemorate the 10th anniversary of the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan. The company organized activities both inside and outside its Siyaljori plant in Bokaro, contributing to the nationwide effort.

The Swachhata Hi Seva campaign, which began on 17th September 2024, is based on the theme ‘Swabhav Swachhata – Sanskar Swachhata.’ The initiative promotes the importance of cleanliness and emphasizes community involvement in creating a sustainable and healthier environment. The campaign focuses on raising awareness about sanitation and responsible environmental practices such as waste management and tree plantation.

As part of the campaign, Vedanta ESL employees voluntarily participated in a Cleanliness and Plantation Drive at Alkusha Primary School. Around 50 employees, along with students, teachers, and community members, engaged in cleaning and greening the school environment. The drive aimed to foster environmental consciousness, improve hygiene, and instill civic responsibility among participants. During the event, a Swachhta oath was taken by all attendees, including the Chief Guest,  Philmoon Bilung, District Development Magistrate of NABARD, and notable community leaders. The event concluded with the planting of over 100 saplings under the “Ek Ped Maa ke Naam” initiative.

Kunal Daripa, Head of CSR at Vedanta ESL, highlighted the company’s dedication to cleanliness, stating that previous initiatives to instill this practice among all employees are now bearing fruit. He emphasized that cleanliness has become an integral part of Vedanta ESL’s culture, reflecting the company's ongoing commitment to creating a cleaner and greener environment.
