Use of technology in education will bring positive change: Champai Soren

Jharkhand's Higher and Technical Education Minister, Champai Soren said that the education world of the State is standing at the threshold of a change and with the use of technology it will be able to prepare students to face the global challenges in the future.

Soren said that by connecting educational institutions to CSC through digital initiative, we will be able to make various processes faster and transparent. He was addressing the workshop on the topic "Digital Initiatives for Higher Education in Jharkhand" organized by the Department of Higher and Technical Education at Dr Shyama Prasad Mukherjee University today.

On this occasion, while listing the priorities of the Jharkhand Government in the field of higher education, Champai said that many schemes including Guruji Student Credit Card, Manki Munda Scholarship have been started to encourage students for higher education. “The main objective of these schemes is to connect the poor tribals, natives and common people of this mineral-rich state with education, so that they can get educated and work for the betterment of their family, society and State,” he added.

The Minister said that to promote research in the State, the Government has come up with the Chief Minister Fellowship Scheme, under which students doing PhD will be given incentives up to Rs  25,000 every month. Along with this, the department is taking the initiative to open the first Divyang University of Eastern India in Ranchi.” To fulfill our social responsibility, we are bringing the "Navothan Chhatravriti Yojana" to bear the entire cost of higher education of the Divyang and orphan students of the State,” he added.

"Jharkhand Grass Root Innovation Internship Scheme" is being started to promote innovation in the rural areas of the State, under which 4 trainee students will be sent to all the panchayats to understand the local needs and find solutions to them. Through this innovative experiment of innovation in rural areas, not only will we be able to make the life of the villagers easier, but on the basis of the feedback received in this process, the government will make plans to improve the future of the villagers,” said Champai.

During this workshop, an agreement was signed between various government and private universities of the state and CSC-SPV in the presence of the Director of the Department, Ramniwas Yadav, under which CSC will provide various facilities related to e-governance and information technology to these educational institutions.

In this program, Principal Secretary of Higher and Technical Education Department Rahul Kumar Purwar, MD of CSC-SPV Sanjay Kumar Rakesh and Director of the Department Ramniwas Yadav, along with Vice Chancellors, Registrars, Principals of Colleges, Directors of Engineering Colleges, Principals of Polytechnic Institutes and officials of government and private universities operating in the State were present.
