To accommodate the needs of competitive exam candidates, the Uttar Pradesh Public Service Commission (UPPSC) has rescheduled the Provincial Civil Services Preliminary Examination 2024 to December 22.
This adjustment follows Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s initiative to address the concerns of students.
Responding to the requests of students protesting in Prayagraj, the examination will now be conducted in a single day rather than over two days, as originally planned for December 7 and 8. The revised exam will take place on December 22 in two shifts, from 9:30 am to 11:30 am and 2:30 pm to 4:30 pm.
This change aims to ease travel and scheduling issues for candidates, enabling them to complete the exam in one day.
Prompted by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, the UPPSC took swift action to amend the schedule and address students’ demands.
PSC exam date stir: Students call off protest after UPPSC announces new schedule
Meanwhile, the students protesting in Prayagraj, on Friday, ended their agitation, a day after the UPPSC agreed to their demand to conduct the PCS Prelim examination on a single day.
The agitation was going on since November 11 to demand that exams be held on one single day.
ACP (Civil Lines) Shyamjeet Singh said student leader Pankaj Pandey had formally announced the end of the agitation, but some people were still sitting in front of the UPPSC office.
Pandey said, “The government has accepted one demand and 90 per cent of our work has been done in the second demand. That will happen when the committee report comes. We will consider it after the report comes. Today we ended the protest and vacated the protest site,” he said.
The protesters’ leader said they had told all the students to go home and study. Now no student will stay here, he added.
