Senior BJP leader and former Union Minister Vijay Goel on Friday submitted a complaint to the Delhi Police regarding hacking of his official website by an online betting brand, stating that he or his family might also be physically attacked.
In the complaint copy, he said, “I wish to report a recent cyber offence in the form of hacking my official website and I suspect the same is being done by the Online betting brand 'Piraslot'.”
He added he has recently called for the banning of online gaming which was joined by the former Governor of Assam Jagdish Mukhi, former Rajya Sabha MP Sonal Mansingh, former Delhi High Court judge Retd. Justice S N Dhingra and former Lok Sabha Secretary G C Malhotra.
He said, “I have also urged the netizens to join a protest at Jantar Mantar on 16.11.2024 seeking to address this issue as our youth and children are increasingly becoming its victims,” adding that in consequence of my determined campaign against online gaming, my official website is hacked by the online betting brand 'Piraslot'.“The interface of my website has been changed with the display of a graphic and text in another language. Since I have been very vocal and have been raising voice against it, there are very high chances that the masterminds behind such hacking might target me further and might also attack me or my family, physically,” he added.
“Hence, I urge you to take appropriate action against the culprits in accordance with the law, prosecute and punish them. Unless and until stringent action is taken against them, they would be further emboldened to carry out more such cyber-attacks and harass me or my family. This is for your urgent and necessary action,” it read.
