Impressed by the surrender policy of the Government, two Zonal Commanders of CPI (Maoist) surrendered on Saturday in the office of the Superintendent of Police. The Government has announced a reward of Rs. 10 lakh each on these two Maoists.
The names of the zonal commanders of CPI (Maoist) who surrendered are Neeraj Singh Kharwar alias Sanjay Kharwar and Salman alias Lokesh alias Rajkumar Ganjhu.
When these two Naxalites surrendered under the surrender policy, DIG of Palamu Range YS Ramesh, DC of the district Garima Singh and SP Anjani Anjan welcomed them by giving them a bouquet of flowers and a shawl. The cheque for the reward amount to be given to them was also given on the spot.
On the whole matter, Ramesh said that instead of being killed by the police, it is better that people who have strayed from the mainstream and have taken the path of Naxalism adopt the surrender policy and live their lives by joining the mainstream of society.
Singh appealed to the Naxalites to join the mainstream by adopting the surrender policy.
Also, the SP of the district said that the only option left for the few Naxalites left in Latehar district is to surrender. Latehar Police appeals to them to join the mainstream. “They should surrender and join the mainstream, otherwise the police will be ready for them. Naxalites should join the mainstream otherwise they should be ready to be shot by the police,” he added.
